We’re pleased to report that our first full-fledged holiday season was a big success, business-wise.
We were fortunate enough to be the focus of two flattering mentions for our products and Web site: first, in Yachting Magazine which featured a large photo of our “Great Lakes” Wall Chart and a detailed description of our Chart Art. Then, we also got a nice mention by Jim Hutchinson, a fishing columnist for the Asbury Park Press newspaper and Web site that showed off our salt & pepper grinder replicas of Penn International fishing reels.
We enjoyed good popularity with our holiday shopping exhibits at several Florida yacht clubs. We had excellent responses for our Chart Art and other products at the Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami’s Coconut Grove; at the Venice (FL) Yacht Club; at Tampa Yacht & Country Club; at Carlouel Yacht Club; and, of course, at our home club in St. Pete (St. Petersburg Yacht Club.) We met hundreds of wonderful members at each event, each of which got us deeper into the holiday spirit.
Then, of course, we spent 4 days in early December exhibiting our wares at the St. Petersburg Boat Show. As usual, our coffee table showcasing the chart of the U.S and British Virgin Islands was a traffic stopper and source of constant conversation for sailors who have been there or folks with dreams of sailing there.
Needless to say, most of the purchases at the shows and from our Web site were destined as Christmas presents.
We were fortunate that all of our vendors were able to fulfill our orders on time – most of the gifts arrived at their destination safely and on time. The only delivery glitch occurred when some of our Chart Art shipments via UPS got delayed due to a train derailment in the Mid-West. Even those packages, fortunately, were delivered before Christmas.
The most asked-for Chart Art waterways were: Tampa Bay (of course), Seattle, Lake Winnipesaukee, the Virgin Islands (of course) and Delaware Bay.
This year, we added several new products to our display and Web offerings that proved to be very popular. Our new chart-design tempered glass cutting boards got a lot of attention and sold well. At $25, our WillChill nylon wine cooler bags were easy choices for stocking stuffers and hostess gifts. Too, our salt & pepper grinders – both the fishing reel-style and the sailing winch-style – found their way under several Christmas trees from Florida to New Jersey.
Our sincere “Thanks” to everyone who ordered from us and who visited with us this year. We enjoyed getting to know you and appreciate your patronage.
We hope that everyone who received gifts from Uniquely Nautical will enjoy them for years to come.
Best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season. See you in the New Year!
